Dean Dyson

Meanwhile, in Poland, Dean’s success continues!

Maryla Rodowicz, undisputedly Poland’s First Lady Of Song, has recorded two of his songs, on her new album, due out on Sept.26 th on Sony/BMG.

“Do Cholery”, (orig. “One Way Up” co-written with Joe Cang) and “Popatrz…” (orig. “Sometimes”) are scheduled to be consecutive singles for Autumn and Christmas, for this truly exceptional Artiste. Maryla has been at the forefront of Polish music for over 35 years, similar to Tina Turner in the West.

Dean recently had the honour of being invited to Sopot in Poland by Maryla, to meet her and watch her headline their biggest music festival. There she “wowed” the sell-out crowd while simultaneously reaching millions live on TV.

Sony/BMG are expecting tremendous impact with this album, skilfully produced by Bogdan and Usek, who were also behind K.K.’s album, where they were introduced to Dean’s work. Polish lyrics for the whole album were written by Kasia Nosowska, and Dean feels she has done him proud, particularly with “ Popatrz…”. This song which features a characteristically beautiful vocal from Maryla, looks like becoming a classic.

It is Dean’s ambition to introduce her to the UK audience and he is currently seeking leads in that direction, although she already sells-out in London and Chicago when performing to Poles!

Currently, as well as with his MSB stablemates, Dean is writing with Simon Darlow (Grace Jones, Cliff Richard and Martine Mcutcheon), and together they have recently collaborated with Writer/ Producer Chris Neil (Celine Dion, Mike & The Mechanics, Rod Stewart etc.).

Since becoming the first “outside” writer signed to MSB, and after forming numerous writing partnerships via Johnny and Franks’ introductions, Dean’s work is steadily gaining international recognition.

Thanks, in no small way to Johnny’s tireless efforts, His song “Bridge Of Dreams”, written with Matteo Saggese (Il Divo, Hayley Westenra, Russell Watson ) was recorded in 2004 by No. 1 Greek and International tenor Mario Frangoulis, on his Sony album “Follow Your Heart”.
Released in Europe in Aug. 2004 and in the USA in Feb. 2005, the album went straight into the BILLBOARD Classical Crossover charts at number three, and has remained in the top ten ever since! Mario’s extensive global touring, and critical rating alongside Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli, ensure great longevity for this fine album.

In June 2004, thanks to the publishing talents of Lucyna Felecka at BMG Poland, MSB’s co-collaborator in Warsaw, legendary Polish singer Krzysztof Krawczyk recorded four of Dean’s songs (incl. two co-written with Frank Musker) on his album “To co w zyciu wazne” (orig. “No-one Ever Told Me” written with Scott English (Barry Manilow, Westlife) ).

The album quickly went platinum and spawned two hit singles in Lekarse Dusz (orig. “The Honeytrap” written with Frank) and “Przytul mnie zycie” (orig. “Spiritual Woman”). The album, also released as a special edition, including his duet with Rod Stewart, re-established his reputation.

Nominated for “Best Album of the Year”, Krawczyk won the coveted “Friedrik” (Polish Grammy) for “Best Male Artist”in 2005.

Here in the UK, with MSB stablemate Jon Cohen, Dean wrote the title-track of Becky Jane Taylor’s long-awaited second EMI album “By Your Side”, due for release in Sept.2005.

This remarkable young soprano, still only seventeen, performed the song at this year’s “Last Night Of The Kenwood Proms”, with the English Sinfonia, where she won the hearts of the 8,000 capacity crowd, (which included the two proud writers!).
November 2005 will also see the fruits of Dean and Jons’ relationship continue to blossom with the release of Amy Nuttall’s EMI debut album. Two songs- “No Greater Gift” and “Friends For Life” compliment this impressive debut by this gifted young singer/ actress, whose future looks bright indeed.

Building on her celebrity (Two-and- a-half years starring in Emmerdale ), but more importantly on her vocal strength and ability (she was the youngest-ever lead in Lioyd- Webber’s “Phantom”), EMI are building a huge PR campaign for her.

Unhindered by landing the lead in “My Fair Lady” ,opening a national tour in Manchester in Oct., Amy will be performing at this year’s “Royal Variety Performance”.

Dean’s invitation to write a lyric to Jon’s arrangement of the Largo from Dvorzak’s “ New World”, has been his biggest challenge to date!
